Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah - Christmas 2000

Temple Square is the center of Mormon activities in Salt Lake City. The square was highly decorated for the Christmas season. Although it was about 24 degrees and foggy when we went through, we barely noticed the cold. All of the pictures had to be taken without a flash, because the fog would reflect the light back, so some of them are slightly out of focus.

The new Conference Center is the largest building of it's kind, holding 21,000 people. Note that there are NO pillars in the building to obstruct anyone's view. The pipe organ had over 7600 pipes ranging from 43 feet long to the size of a pencil. It takes 6 people just to run the sound system. There is enough wire in the building to circle the earth twice. The central air system could support an equivalent of 600 homes. This will be heavily used during the 2002 Winter Olympics.
